This comes out March 3, 2026.

FMC Leilani is a princess reviled by her father who blames her for the death of her brother, and hates her magic. The king has spent years working on a bastard son of a noble, Astrophel, to be the son he never had as well as stoke his dislike for Leilani, to whom he betroths him, so as to have Astrophel take the throne as heir.

There is a sickness going on, and on the day of her binding ceremony, Leilani gets notice that she must go and find an item from an ancestor. Her hope is that with this item she can cure her mother of the sickness. To do this, however, she needs to perform a blood binding ritual with members of 3 other nations. All of the 4 nations hate each other, and there are a lot of prejudices against among them all. Ultimately, a group made of all four members embarks on the quest for the item.

There is a love triangle, and at this stage it’s unclear who the final MMC will be. There are betrayals as well.

The writing itself was for the most part fine, though a little juvenile at times. Also, for some reason the author decided to start each chapter’s first sentence with a lowercase letter, which drove me insane. I also personally felt that FMC’s interest in the other male was kind of unexpected and not well fleshed out. They had a couple of nice moments and all of a sudden she’s in love with him? Seemed fast without much basis. To be fair though, she’s pretty sheltered and naive to romance. I also preferred the other MMC to him so that may also factor into it.

All in all, I felt like this book was good enough to finish though it’s not top tier writing. I’ll also probably read the next one. I’d probably rate this 3.75 stars. Maybe round up to 4 because I really like the cover.
