Advice for whether or not to paint trim dark?

Paint & Colors

Got a new house, 90s build, all trim and doors are white and all walls have light colors, a lot of beige but some light blues and yellows too.

Our living room is an off white with white trim, and a white mantel holding a black gas fireplace, typical beige carpet and a white matte ceiling. It has this really nice retro ceiling fan with gold and brown wood veneer ceiling fan blades. We were thinking about painting it like dried thyme/sage color, and having dark accents with our furniture but it feels like the white would be too much. We’d also like to match the trim with the brown of the ceiling fan, but don’t know if I want to commit to brown trim throughout the rest of the house. The living room has 2 entryways, one leading towards the kitchen and the other leading towards the front door, and then two white double doors leading towards a sun room. Would it be too crazy to mix trims in open rooms like that? What’s the best way to go about it?
