Why did my progress get reset and can I get it back?

I had 1800-ish attempts on Trump Circles and I opened the app (mobile, Iphone) and the progress and attempts were reset to 0% and 0 attempts.

Is there any way to prevent this from happening anymore and/or recover my progress?
