Trivia - 2 Olympic Games in home country?
I heard an interesting fact earlier. Joel Retornaz is a 42 year old curling player and has been the skipper of the Italy national team for over twenty years. This of course means that he played in Turin in 2006 and is due to play again at Milan in 2026.
That means that he will have competed in two separate Olympic Games in his home country.
I am not sure if this will make him the first athlete ever to do this?
The only possibilities I can find would be an American athlete who competed in both LA 1984 and Atlanta 1996, or perhaps even a Chinese athlete who switched from summer to winter sport between 2008 and 2022, but it must be an exceptionally rare feat
