parking tips for avatar w/ alien weaponry at old foresters paristown hall (louisville 11/30)
hey metalheads, figured i'd share some parking tips for the avatar and alien weaponry show on 11/30 since the paristown area can get a little wild when there's a big event. we all know finding a good spot can be a pain and super expensive so here’s the rundown.
honestly the best secret weapon i've found is using the Prked app. it's where people who live in the neighborhood right around old forester's paristown hall rent out their own driveways and garages for the night . it's usually way cheaper than the venue lots and you can reserve a spot ahead of time. plus, the biggest perk is you get to skip the insane traffic and bottleneck when everyone is trying to leave the main lots all at once after the show- it's a super short walk and you're already out on a residential street .
if you don't go the Prked route, the venue does have its own official paid parking. there's a lot right next to the building on swan street that usually has an attendant . there is also a neighboring lot at 814 vine street, and the paristown lot at 712 vine street, which are all close by and accept both cash and cards . for a little peace of mind, you can also often find prepaid parking passes for the venue on sites like seatgeek, which can save you some stress on the day of .
for those looking to save a few bucks, street parking is definitely a thing around the paristown neighborhood but you have to be ready to walk a bit. the absolute best news for the 11/30 show is that it's on a sunday! louisville parking meters are free all day on sundays, and they are only enforced monday through saturday until 6:00 pm anyway . so if you find a metered spot nearby, it should be free, but you absolutely have to check all the signs for any other local restrictions like fire lanes or "no parking anytime" signs or you will get towed- park at your own risk .
traffic will get heavy closer to the 7:30 pm start time, especially with people trying to grab food before the show. it’s a smart idea to arrive about an hour early, around 6:30 pm, to beat the worst of the congestion and give yourself time to find a good spot and get through security .
if you want to avoid parking altogether, the designated uber and lyft drop-off/pick-up area is at the corner of swan street and vine street .
one last thing i noticed: the venue is mostly cashless inside for merch, food, and drinks, so make sure you bring a card or two. it's going to be a loud night . hope this helps everyone out!
