Am I being an inconvenience?
Hi, I '25F' have been talking to a guy '31M' for about 4 months. We get along well, good communication, good chemistry, and we’ve seen each other a couple times. The problem is transportation/distance and I’m starting to feel like I’m the only one making sacrifices to see him.
I don’t drive yet, but I’m working on getting my license and car. He does drive and has no issue traveling long distances—he often drives 2 hours to see his parents and stays the night with them.
Recently, he invited me to go to date somewhere with him. This is will be our second time meeting.I said I couldn’t afford it. He immediately offered to buy both tickets if I can get to his city which is 1–3 hours from me by bus. He didn’t offer to meet halfway, pick me up. Just “I’ll buy our tickets if YOU get here.”
I admitted that I only agreed to the bus because it felt like the only way we could ever see each other. He said transportation wasn’t a dealbreaker before, but his actions make it feel like it is.
I voiced my concerns and I how I felt alittle hurt and now felt like an inconvenience multiple
He responded with: “I’ll pick you up. I’m tired of talking about it.”
So now I’m confused. He CAN pick me up… he just wasn’t willing to until I pushed the issue. And the “I’m tired of talking about it” part made me feel like I was being annoying or asking for too much.
I genuinely don’t know if I’m being an inconvenience. I’m not asking him to pay for everything. I’m just asking for effort to be equal, especially since I don’t have a car yet.
Am I asking for too much? Or is it normal to want someone to meet you halfway (literally) in a new relationship?
