Before antibiotics did people just die all the time from minor infections?
Basically the title. I have been feeling general malaise off and on for a few weeks now but based on my symptoms I never would have thought I had an UTI (no burning pee or anything, just general malaise and sometimes chills). I was describing my symptoms to my cousin yesterday and she told me I had a UTI, which was confirmed at urgent care this morning. I was prescribed antibiotics. My cousin told me that one time she had gone septic and almost died from a UTI, and that got me wondering if historically it was common for people to die from something as seemingly minor as a UTI…
