Advice please

My son’s 2018 RAV 4 Adventure had its headlights go out. Both sides, at once. Fog lights are fine. His commute to work is dark both ways, so I’ve lent him my car for now. (He doesn’t live with us). But I return to work Monday. Mechanic is closed today. Could it be something simple like a switch that got flipped? I’m just a mom who wants her kid safe. I know almost nothing about cars. Help!
