What's something you chose to ignore in a fic in favor of a good story?

I'm currently 10 chapters into a hanahaki fic where the author handles punctuation in a really weird way. If it's a period or a comma, it remains flush with the sentence. However, stuff like exclamation points, question marks, and colons are spaced away from the rest of the sentence like this ! Or this ? And this :

It's distracting everytime it happens, but the story so far has been amazing, and it's my only gripe with the fic, so I'm pushing forward with it. What's something you guys chose to put yourself through because the story was too amazing to not read?
