Thoughts on Ash understanding Pokémon

So continuing on from my previous post on Ash being able to understand Pokemon, whilst I have now learnt more in that time and don't think Ash has the exact same ability as N, there is a moment from the I Choose You movie that demonstrates what I think Ash can hear (be warned massive spoilers in this clip!)

In short, I think the Pokémon language (from Pikachu mostly) translates in Ash's head, and he can hear their "human" voices. Convoluted answer, sure, but I think it makes so much sense.

Also this clip shows us what is essentially Pikachu's canonical "human" voice. And I do find it both fascinating and hilarious 🤣 I personally never thought Pikachu's voice would be THAT high.
