Is it weird for me to think this guy cared about me?

I was seeing him casually, along with somebody else in between. We don't meet up anymore but back when we were, I felt like we both cared about each other. When we first met, we definitely didn't get along. We'd have good convos but he'd make some weird comments that I can't see him saying to me now. I had also said a couple things to him when I was confronting him about something that I also wouldn't now. I feel like we sort of grew on each other after awhile. Idk, is it weird of me to think that he cared about me?
