Mid-Career Crisis: Starting Over
Had a very non-traditional career up to this point and looking for bigger and better things. Two months ago, I started as a director with a VERY small firm in PA, but I don't think it is going to work with some personality conflicts and ethical concerns I have with the ownership. I have a little over 15 years experience in tax prep, resolution, and advisory and want to move on. I want to do more than just help with compliance, but really grow (and help to grow) a business that I can be proud of. I have 2 side hustles I've been working for (and they are great), but I think I'd take a pay cut if I went aboard full-time with either one. My current position pays about 170 (including bonus) and I am an EA, CPA, and attorney.
Are people really looking for mid-career professionals like me? If so where should I look? Should I consider starting my own firm (I've heard that a few times)?
