Very recent breakup and feeling gutted
I broke up a long distance relationship 6 days ago.I live in Canada. He lives in Florida. Politics around the current administration in the USA started to become a flashpoint that we were struggling to discuss. We've been going strong for awhile and I've been seeing him for over a year....spending 6 months together and him staying with me 3 days a week in Florida when I was there. This year, I wanted to go elsewhere for winter.
Since, we've had daily communication, FaceTime and sent each other things through delivery or mail. It was hard but I was encouraged we could make it. He came to see me in July and we had a vacation planned in Central America that he backed out of due to work. He then said he'd come back to Canada in February. Last weekend we had another disagreement on government policy and his very low information about it and he then told me he wasn't coming to Canada either. I asked him what the plan was for us and he said he didn't have one. I hit me that he was a man of routine in his long term job and he wasn't going to change that for me. And out of nowhere I just ended it. I was as shocked as him. I didn't expect to. He was not cruel but he shut down immediately. I'm the sensitive justice seeker and he's the stoic law and order guy. But he's shown me very vulnerable sides of himself and I have always been good to him and supportive in everything he goes through. I accept him for who he is. He lives a solitary life full of routine and I'm blaming myself for maybe being hasty when perhaps he was just being pissy about our disagreement. We ended it by him saying to reach out if I wanted to then sarcastically calling me "friend". Idk. I'm on day 6 of no contact. Heartbroken, indecisive, alone, grieving. it doesn't feel over. And I don't know what to. Please help.
