How do I start to Learn and Understand AI/ML from beginning

as the title says, I know this is the most common question but I still wanted to discuss about. to anyone that has been into this topic for long, how do you wish you should've started learning AI/ML from scratch if you were given to do it all over again. what do learn first? from which source, what to keep in mind or anything else. any advice is appreciated. thanks
