Planning Magome to Tsumago Nakasendo trail on Dec 7

We are planning a trip to Nakasendo trail - Magome to Tsumago part on Dec 7. Wondering if it is a good time to do this or skip? We are experienced hikers. Would things (buses, restaurant etc.) be open and on schedule? Plan is to take a morning train from Odawara, disembark at Nagoya and catch train/bus to get to Magome. Finish around 3-4 pm and get back to Nagoya for onward journey to Kyoto. If its not a good time to do this trail, we might use the time to do other things in Kyoto.
