How much do you research the places you are plonked?/Wikipedia

Game Discussion

Do you ever research the places you've discovered through Geoguessr? And if so how much?

My usual go-to, if I find something particularly interesting, is to look at the Wikipedia page for the place I've been plonked in (if it's big enough to exist that is) and tend to read up about its history and general information about it. I can easily fall into rabbit holes (recent highlights: villages on the Austrian/Slovak border, US towns with unusual street names or layouts, Indonesian 20th century history), the list is endless.

Since I am a Wikipedia contributor, I often end up doing "side quests" for hours on end, researching more about certain places and adding missing information to the pages. I'm wondering how many other people do this too.
