I am currently working on replacing the drywall after replacing a gas pipeline. This is my second attempt at this, my first attempt was using the scraps from the original drywall and making it puzzle back together which left me with some bumpy drywall and terrible creases. I have properly removed the bad drywall and cut out a new piece of drywall. I thought I made sure it was perfect and the shape is, but it’s not leveling out. After screwing in the new piece of drywall to the studs I’m finding that it’s not leveling out:/ I screwed both the new piece and the original drywall to the studs to try and get it to be more flush. It worked a little bit but because I have a gas line behind, it is making it hard for the new piece to go in flush. I rushed it and am here. I mud and taped one side to see how it would look and feel, and it feels great in some spots but high in others. What should I do to move forward as of right now? I have been using gorilla glue mud and thinning it a bit, mostly because I love the way it sets up but it is expensive and I’m not well versed in mud. I’ve used the dap lightweight and hated how it set it up, it felt foamy and not very sandable. I read people using phrases like green mud and red or blue as well as hot mud and I’m not too sure on what that is. Please help and be nice, I’m trying to learn! Thank you for reading all that!
