Oh my god how do you fish on PS5

Please I'm gonna cry, how for the life of me do you fish in this game on PS5? I've been trying to figure this out for a good hour now and Google is NO HELP.

Literaly all the "how to fish" guides and videos and whatnot just give me tips on the best spots or how to level fast but not on how to even start fishing itself.

SOME tell you you need to stand in water and press space, that doesn't help me though cause Im on PS5, the google AI thingy says you have to equip a fishing rod and press x in water, I run through the town to try and find a fishing rod to buy SOMEWHERE and by pure chance I find that beginner fishing quest that gives me a rod - great right? WRONG.

Cant equip that cause I already need to be Level 10, great, so I google again and now they say everyone comes with a basic rod equipped, wonderful, now Im standing in the water jumping around like an idiot cause pressing x doesn't work apparently.

So I Google AGAIN, slowly loosing my mind cause it can't be that hard right? Now people are suddenly talking about a fishing stance but no one on this god forsaken planet tells me how to enter it in PS5, some say i have to press D-Pad Up and the crossed weapons but that just opens the skill menu like???

The fact I can't find an answer or instruction to this ANYWHERE and the Quest is Just Like "go fish" maybe means its really really obvious and I'm just dumb, maybe I am, but please for the love of good someone help me out here
