No sound from rears when watching movies but there is when listening to music

has anyone experienced this? I have an arc, 2 five’s as fronts and 2 Ones as rears. it’s obviously grouped correctly and working so I don’t think it’s a sonosequencer issue but figured I’d start here. music plays from rears when listening through apple music airplayed from my phone. I tried watching Top gun maverick through prime on my Apple TV and nothing is coming out of the rears. Apple TV audio settings is set to auto for Dolby.
