F-1 Visa - SEVIS transfer

I have emailed the SEVP Response Center and I got the following answer. Has anyone been on a similar situation before? Is that true?:

“Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your inquiry.

If your DSO does not initiate your transfer request before the end of your 60-day grace period, your SEVIS record will auto-complete. However, as long as you have requested the transfer before the end of your grace period, they may submit a correction request through your SEVIS record to return your record status to active and transfer your record out. Please continue to follow up with your DSO regarding your transfer request.”
