I've lived in the US for over 15 years. Can I avoid greek military service?

:zz_travel: travel/τουρισμός

I'm actually not a greek citizen, but I think I can get greek citizenship if I submit the paperwork. Both me and my sister were born in Greece and lived there as children, but left a long time ago.

My sister went back and got a greek passport a few years ago. I had the same option but I didn't do it because I didn't want to get conscripted.

Is there any way to avoid conscription, assuming I don't intend to live in Greece? I just want to have the Greek citizenship in case I want to move to the EU sometime in the future.
