eBay auction listing debate

I'd like the community to weigh in:

I always list my cards with OBO whether it is a straight sale listing or an auction.

Another eBayer says it's not a good look to do OBO with an auction because why would they ever offer above the starting price of the auction, and after bids you can no longer get or accept offers.

I think that if I have an auction for a card that comps at $10 and someone wants to offer me 65-80% of comp before any bids are made, why wouldn't I want that?

A little more info - both myself & the other person have been on eBay for over 20 years.
