Thoughts on the TCL 55"/65" QM7K Series 4K TVs for a grateful QLED noob?

Hey, everyone. I know there are a lot of Black Friday posts here already about the TVs, prices, setup, and problems, etc., but I'm new to this thread, so I do have a general question for you all.

Apologies if this has been asked (many times) before -- I don't believe it has -- but I have never owned a modern QLED/Mini-LED set before (my last TV was a workhorse 65" Panasonic plasma). I'm eyeing the TCL 55" or 65" QM7K Series 4K TVs.

Are they worth it? Could I simply buy a 6K instead? Should I splurge for an 8K?

Some background, we're gamers here (PS5), and have a untouched 4K collection of films we'd like to watch. We do stream sports on occasion too, but we're not the types to do heavy calibration of our TVs, or even know everything we should be looking for technology-wise. We just want a solid bright, clear picture, with minimal blur, and acceptable low-lag for gaming.

I've done my homework, and I've read/watched many ratings on RTINGS, and for our budget ($800 to $1300 or so CDN before taxes), and they seem solid, even better a lot of the LG's and Sony's I was initially looking at.

Your thoughts, experience and expertise are appreciated! Thanks in advance.
