References

I’ve only taught at one school since qualifying as a teacher over the 10 years ago, and I’m (finally) looking at other jobs this year. I know most require at least two references, which is a bit of an issue having worked at only one school. Do you think schools would look well upon the references coming from these two?

1. deputy head/my head of department - we’ve worked very closely together for my whole career and who knows me better than anyone

2. headteacher who left last summer (now head of major international school in HK) - knew me very well, unlike the new head who has spoken to me twice and has never seen me teach or anything else
