Which affordable hybrid should I buy?

Im debating between a new Corolla Hybrid ~32k, Prius ~40k, and Civic sport hybrid ~37k.

I do a ton of both city and highway driving. Im in an area with high fuel prices, but a plug in vehicle isnt an option at my place.

Fuel economy and long term operating costs are most important to me. The corolla is appealing at the sticker price, but I have heard the Prius is cheaper/more efficient long term. The Civic looks to be a solid middle option.
