Salvaging is a fun activity but a few issues need to be fixed

Discussion

Players are primarily using the ‘double spot’ locations. These double spots rely on other players salvaging at the sub optimal locations so they respawn more frequently. This feels like a game of wack a mole and it’s very clunky.

I’m sure the team intended for players to traverse to different wrecks as they despawn but it becomes very tedious and most players obviously prefer not having to move their boat every ~3 minutes.

Possible changes:

  • Shipwreck radius needs to be increased

  • Shipwrecks need to de/respawn independent of each other

  • Make the average duration much longer than ~3-4 minutes

  • Crew members should get back to work automatically after hopping worlds

  • Maybe shipwrecks shouldn’t despawn at all, but every few minutes a “rich” wreck can appear which grants bonus exp. This way the players who want to play more lazily can still AFK, but players who are paying attention can traverse to different locations and get better exp?

  • I’m not gonna talk about the crystal extractor because this is a complex topic and could be an issue or benefit depending on how you look at it. I think the core issues of salvaging need to be fixed before tackling the extractor.
