Coming to Life

Struggling with my nursery design in an early 1900s house, advice welcome!

We just moved into a new house and it’s an early 20th century home, so I’m really trying to keep that classic vibe while I decorate.

I need some help with my daughter’s nursery because I’m overthinking everything at this point. First question: is the rug too big? I spent a decent amount on it, and now I can’t tell if it works or if it just completely swallows the room. The next size down felt too small, but now this one feels huge. I thought about layering another smaller rug to break it up… but I’m not sure if that would look weird.

That kind of leads into my next issue, the whole layout. I didn’t want her crib too close to the windows since I’ll be putting up curtains soon, but I also don’t love how the dresser is shoved into the corner. The whole setup just feels off and I can’t figure out why.

Then there’s the crib. I went with the cheaper version of the one I really wanted, and now it honestly just looks… cheap. I wanted that aged metal look, and this one is clearly just painted metal. I’ll attach a photo of the one I almost bought. The only thing holding me back is she 10 months old and will soon need another bed. the nicer one does convert into a twin bed, but not sure if i wanted to be locked into this look for that long. i just don't know if its worth spending the extra money right now. The one I have can still be returned though, so I’m torn. Does the crib make or break the room? Should I have gone with black instead of gold? Do I just bite the bullet and buy the nice one since it’ll last 5+ years and keep this look that long?

Last thing, I’m stuck on curtain colors. I’m going back and forth between green and pink. I’ll attach pictures of both. I’m thinking either velvet or linen.

And any other thoughts are welcome. I’m not thrilled with the lamp in there either, so that’s getting replaced. I’m pretty sure I’m going to get the Anthropologie daisy lamp for her dresser since her name is Daisy, so I don’t even feel bad about splurging. 🌼
