Why is it ok to believe in ghosts but you're an unscientific dummy if you don't believe in global warming?

For the record I don't believe in ghosts and I do believe in global warming. I work in a pretty liberal area and most people have pretty unfavorable views of organized religion and people who believe things like climate change isn't real or vaccines aren't bad. But somehow about 80 percent of people I ask say they do believe in ghosts?
