is it explained anywhere why sorna was abandoned ?

in lost world the generators still work but things are run down, in jp3 we see they had labs there. even if there was a containement breach, why would they forego the whole island ? its clear they didnt just scampered and run since they still had the dna samples, genomes and all the work done preserved.

if it was a failed venture it makes no sense to let go of that. i could see hammond being carroted by ingen to fund them,their real work, they could give rat ass about a amusement park, but if ingen wasnt with hammond from the start, you would think they would keep that quiet instead of luring investors with dinossaurs,as that would open a lot of governament eyes.
