trying gamma as a powerpoint alternative for client work - am i saving time or cutting corners with AI deck generators?
Freelance content strategist and brand consultant. i make a lot of presentations for clients - strategy decks, content plans, campaign proposals, quarterly reports, all that. used to spend 2-3 hours on each presentation in powerpoint or google slides. manually formatting, making colors match their brand, picking layouts, making charts look professional. adds up crazy fast when you're billing hourly. the problem: i can't bill clients for design time. they're paying for strategy, not for me to spend 90 minutes adjusting text boxes. tried gamma last month after seeing it mentioned somewhere. it's an AI presentation tool that generates slides from your outline automatically. sounded too good to be true but desperate times. workflow now: write strategy in google doc like normal, paste into gamma, it makes a deck with decent layouts, i tweak content and add client-specific stuff, export, done. maybe 45 minutes instead of three hours. first client deck i was nervous they'd notice it looked different. they said nothing. approved the strategy, paid the invoice, asked for next phase. been doing this for about a month. saved probably 12-15 hours of formatting time. which is 12-15 billable hours i can actually charge for doing real work. the AI generated decks look professional enough for client presentations. not fancy designer-level but way better than me fumbling around in powerpoint pretending i know design. what are other freelancers using for client presentations? are you still doing manual formatting in traditional tools or found faster ways that don't eat your billable hours? thinking about trying canva too but gamma as a powerpoint alternative has been working so far.
