The quiet fomo that creeps into our twenties

Rants & Experiencesđź’˘

Sometimes I start the day with this strange feeling that I am missing out on the life I should already have and it hits even harder when I see people who were born rich living a life that looks effortless. I see them getting chances I never even had to dream about and sometimes I feel jealous even though I do not want to. It is a tough feeling because I know it is not their fault but it still makes me wonder how different my life would look if I had that kind of start. This feeling shows up in the smallest moments. I scroll through social media and it seems like everyone else is moving ahead faster than me. People my age are getting amazing jobs or traveling around the world or settling into perfect relationships while I sit there wondering why my life does not look like that. Even when I am trying my best I still feel this quiet pressure that I am falling behind. Our twenties are supposed to be a time for growth yet they often feel like a time filled with confusion. One moment I feel motivated and the next moment I doubt everything. It feels like there is an invisible race that I never agreed to join yet I keep thinking I am running at the slowest pace. I am slowly trying to accept that life does not move the same way for everyone. Some people are born with a head start while others have to build their whole path from scratch. And that is okay. But still this fomo gets overwhelming sometimes like hell!!
