AITA for being upset about my partner getting a kitten as a surprise

My partner recently brought home a kitten out of the blue. We have talked about wanting a cat in the future but we hadn’t been discussing it seriously because i’m not ready for a cat at this point. (I guess my partner didn’t know that) Also, the process of getting a cat is something i would have liked to be included in (selecting them, etc). My partner also knows that i hate surprises so i have no idea why he thought i would enjoy a surprise animal. I told him that i appreciate the gesture but i didn’t want the cat & suggested finding another place for it to go. He apologized for not including me in the decision but said the cat is staying. I’m so angry and feel really disrespected, are my feelings valid??
