An opposing opinion on xm4
I got my hand on xm4 thanks to black friday deal about 3 days ago. And I decided to return it with good reasons ( at least good to me).
-
The core reason I wanted to get an overhead headphone was for ANC. My thought process was the ANC should be better than my aap2. And it did not feel even close to my 3 year old aap2. I could hear sound bleeding through.
-
The xm4 does a good job to lower it down but in the process it focuses too much to maintain a constant air pressure which was really annoying. My ears started to hurt after 30 mins of use just from the air pressure.
-
Again what I thought was may be a bit exaggerated regarding ANC. But man! I am disappointed. I played around with the eq and everything. No issue with the sound quality.
-
I also realized how spoiled I am with my iphone, macbook and aap2. That seamless connectivity transfer. I started appreciating it even more now.
-
The last thing is had something to do with my lifestyle. I am in my mid 30s and that means as a common man I have established what i wear and what I don’t and thats gonna be my way till I am in my 50s or till I realize I need a makeover (which is highly unlikely). And the big headphones hanging around my neck is very very annoying. I felt like a teenage kid with pants slipping through my bottom chicks and thats not what I want to portrait about myself.
Why I am writing this. Well when I was doing my research online, I hardly came across a constructive critic on the usability of xm4. I found a lot of technical infos but not so much about how it feels to carry it on a daily basis and are there any compromises. And if you just think unbiasedly it cant be true. May be people are a bit overwhelmed by the positive feedbacks about the product.
But I also know not every product is for everyone.
