Waiting for the take off

Discussion

It's clear that AI is going to be massively disruptive, and I'm super excited about it. With:

  • AI and systems like Alpha Evolve already starting to provide breakthroughs
  • Self driving cars gaining market share.
  • Unemployment, especially for new grads, rising.
  • Project Genesis announced by the US Gov.

Things are happening, and they're happening quickly, but not quickly enough.

I still feel like I'm waiting around. Like it's almost there, but I'm still going to work every day, the news talks about AI, but they're still mostly forecasting a small disruption to the economy and workforce, talking about retraining people who have been made redundant and not exploring the scenario where there is no job to retrain into.

Outside of tech, most people are still viewing it as a tool. When will the narrative around AI finally change. When will everyday people start to "feel the AGI"?
