I've held my tongue
I'm really nobody special. Just another random Lions fan with my own opinions like everyone else. Ive typed up a few of these then cancelled cuz who really cares lmao but at the same time. I'm at a point where I just feel the need to voice my opinion even if it gets lost in the sauce forever or if I'm downvoted into the seventh circle of hell once more.
I seriously try to maintain a very measured and balanced view of things. I try to view things as a television spectator but also as a player on the field. How quickly things move and how difficult certain actions and plays might be. I'm not a football player but I can at least empathize. Even less so despite my best attempts I try to empathize with a coaching staff who, like 30 other teams, are doing the best they can with what they have. That includes knowledge, talent and (as much as I hate how this word has become overpopularized) aura.
I've seen attacks on Dan Campbell. Admittedly he should go for more field goals. He can be bullheaded. But how many times has he gone for it, Goff makes a great throw or at least a decent one and the catch is dropped? Jamo made a bad drop yesterday. Amon Ra made a crucial drop against KC. We can go back all the way to the NFC Championship when those were good calls, but bad drops and it reflects badly on Campbell. That being said, maybe we kick a little more against the Eagles for instance.
Aiden's been getting double teamed. He's not as good as last year numbers wise. What did we expect? He's coming off a broken leg. Giving all hes got but you know thats on his mind. Protect yourself from crucial injury. And also a stellar season (or what would have been) last year is bound to drop.
Amon Ra has made some bad drops this year. Now hes injured too. Shit happens. Jamo same thing. He's cleaned up a lot but needs more improvement yet with his temperament. We lost against Green Bay yesterday, but I saw Jamo getting heated. He reeled it in. He didn't cause a penalty with immaturity yesterday. Packers knocked out Amon Ra, thought they could provoke our WR2 and they were wrong.
Our defense could use some cleaning up. WHAT TEAM DOESN'T lmao.
I could make a 17 paragraph essay about every player on this team giving the doomers credit for the faults they interpret and also praise for the players that are doing the best they can when they're in the moment. Its so easy for all of us who fart in our sofas and scratch our balls to comment on every little misdirection.
But you know what we're not 0-16 and for this fucking franchise anythings better than that. We have a lot of hope. Even if it ain't this year necessarily. We still got a shot this year - the Bears and/or the 49ers could freefall.
Once we make it to the playoffs then its no holds barred.
And most importantly, Our Brand New Lions perform best when we're the underdogs. Generally speaking. We were the underdogs against the Chiefs a few years back and we rose to the occasion. We were the underdogs against the Rams to win our first playoff game. We were the underdogs against the 49ers who for 3 quarters we were whipping belt to ass. We were the underdogs against so many teams last year and yet went 15-2. I wonder had we lost the North had we gone farther than getting bounced out thr divisional round.
Dont doom. Dont ever give up hope. Shit sucks and we lost but it aint over. And even if it is? We got 2026. Then 2027.
Im a Lions fan til I die. Even if we went 0-64 for 4 years straight. I'll STILL wear my fucking colors every game day.
Be a fan, criticize, but also stand on the ground that at least we are somebodys now. Every team looks at us like they have to beat us. Not that we are a walk in the park like we used to be. We also collectively looked at the season - the #1 hardest in the league remember? And agreed on 12-5 or even 11-6. We knew it was gonna be a rough year. But when it happens we uproot the whole organization?
Lets collect ourselves like adults. Take each week as is. Hope for the playoffs and if not, we'll suit up and hope again next year. Dont let the Lions ruin your livelihood or your day to day interactions.
