parking tips for gunna - wun world tour at bojangles coliseum (charlotte 11/30)
hey charlotte, figured i'd share some parking tips for gunna's wun world tour show on 11/30. parking at bojangles coliseum is honestly super easy compared to uptown venues, but getting in and out of that independence blvd traffic can still be a nightmare.
first, the absolute best insider tip is to check out prked. i know it sounds weird, but it's an app where people rent out their driveways or private lots right next to the venue. you can usually find spots way cheaper than the official lots, it's prepaid so no hassle, and you skip all the main venue traffic trying to get to the main gate. a lot of people do this around the bojangies area, and it means a short walk without the insane post-show gridlock. other apps like parkwhiz or curbflip might have reserved spots too, which is the same idea.
for the gunna show specifically, one piece of good news is that parking is actually included in the price of your concert ticket. so you won't have to shell out the $10 or $8 fee that some other events charge. the official lots will open two hours before the 8:00 pm show, so look for a 6:00 pm opening time. you should plan to arrive by 7:00 pm to beat the worst of the traffic, which gets rough quickly on independence boulevard.
you'll want to enter the main lots via paul buck blvd./arena blvd. if those main lots fill up, the bojangies complex (boplex) usually opens up the park expo parking lot across the street as an auxiliary option.
a huge word of caution on traffic: if you’re coming from the charlotte side, independence blvd is notoriously bad. try to use alternative routes like monroe road, central avenue, or wendover road to get near the complex instead of fighting the main drag. once the show is over, some people say getting out is a breeze, but others on reddit report 15-25 minutes just to get out of the lot, especially with everyone cutting each other off.
avoid street parking unless you are super far away. even though charlotte meters are free after 6 pm (which is after the rush hour restrictions of 4-6 pm), the area immediately around the coliseum is mostly residential or business lots that will tow you, and they put up "no parking" signs or bag the meters for special events constantly. it's not worth the tow risk.
if you decide to rideshare, the official drop-off and pickup spot is next to ovens auditorium, which is part of the complex.
hope this helps everyone get in and out smoothly for the show!
