Lyrics in Wish

Do you feel that the lyrics in Wish feel like a first draft and it is unpolished?

Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice were quite an odd fit considering that they still could get a good songwriter like Alan Menken or the duo behind The Greatest Showmen that can create more Broadway style hits.

I feel like the choice to have a Lin Manuel Miranda esque pop song feel didn’t fit the style and tone of Wish.

I even feel like most of the lyrics don’t match what the movie.

The one lyric that through me off the most was when “shareholders” was mentioned. No kid would ever get that.

Putting those lyrics to music felt a little uneven. A majority of them don’t even rhyme well.
