Heating and fire alarm🚨

My last apartment set off the fire alarm too when the heating would turn on for the first time, but my new apartment WONT stop doing it. We've tried turning the heat on three times and each time it sets it off immediately and stinks of burnt dust. They put the fire alarm literally right outside the heating room so it's impossible to not set off, and we can't reach it to take the batteries out (if we're even allowed to do that) and idk how to clean the heater thing. I made a maintenance request to have it cleaned and turned on with the fire alarm managed, but is this something I could fix on my own? It's freezing and they haven't gotten back to me
