The weekly standup with myself has been a gamechanger
Every Monday I have a 30-minute "standup" meeting. Just me. On a video call. Talking to myself about what I did last week and what I'm doing this week. I record it. Started doing this when I caught myself "working" for 50 hours a week and shipping nothing. Lots of Slack. Lots of Twitter. Lots of "research." No actual output. Now I have to explain to myself, on camera, what I actually accomplished. It's embarrassing how often the honest answer is "not much." But that's the point. Can't hide from yourself when you're watching yourself make excuses.
