Do We Buy Foreign Logos Because We Think Our Culture Isn’t 'Cool' Enough? Let's Talk Made in India Brands.
It's a habit we all have: spending 10K on a basic imported sneaker or t-shirt just because of the Western logo. We often do this because, culturally, we've been conditioned to associate foreign with premium or cool. But look at the reality today: Our Brands are the New Cool: Brands like Gully Labs, Comet, or CHNKS are not copying the West; they are taking our own rich, vibrant culture—the colors, the motifs, the street chaos, the regional stories—and making it genuinely stylish for a global audience. The Story is Missing: When you buy a mass-produced item, the only story is the size of the company's marketing budget. When you buy from a homegrown Indian brand, the story is our story: the regional craftsman, the traditional material, the Indian inspiration. The Climate and Fit Factor: As we discussed before, Indian brands inherently design for our climate (light fabrics, better ventilation) and our body types. Why follow a trend that makes us uncomfortable? The Challenge: Next time you shop, look at the story first, not the logo. Share the story: Which Indian brand or product made you feel the most proud to wear your culture? Let's make wearing Made in India a symbol of self-respect and cultural sophistication, not a consolation prize.
