Fooling the mighty Zukka: Now there is a way to save data, treatments, etc beyond 90 days. In fact, all historical Zukka data can be saved this way. The best part, all Zukka features are preserved while viewing the old data.

The most desirable way of saving historical diabetes data is to be able to use the same app. For example, following u/jon20001, I use Zukka to save BG data to Apple Health. But by doing so, I give up a lot of features of Zukka. On Apple Health, all the BG data are compressed into a single line, all fine details are lost. Also, all insulin info is lost as well. And I can not slide the BD values back and forth on screen…..

Last night, I noticed that on iPhone’s “File App”, there is a folder named Zukka with the familiar logo. I then remembered what u/Equalizer6338 once told me, Zukka‘s data is stored on iPhone, unlike the Libre app, which stores in the Libreview cloud. I poked into the folder and found there were 6 items and the file size is small like a few MB. Even for a non computer person like me, it does not take a genius to think that if these 6 items contain all the Zukka data and features, what if I save these 6 items when days 1-90 is up, then delete the Zukka app then re-install the app? This would let Zukka starts anew on days 91-180.

For this scheme to work, I must prove that these 6 items works on Zukka installed on another computer. That is, Zukka with internal organ gutted and replaced by the ones from iPhone.

So I installed Zukka on my old iPad. It Worked. On iPad, I then deleted all the files in the Zukka folder. That is, the Zukka folder is empty.

I airdropped the 6 items from iPhone to iPad. And placed them under the iPad Zukka folder.

Open up the Zukka app, God is on my side! And voila ! Everything I have on the iPhone Zukka app is now reproduced on my iPad Zukka app.

It is easy to think, I can have a folder for days 1-90, another for days 91-180, and another for days 181-270, etc.

Where credit is due: Without the help from u/Jon20001 and u/Equalizer6338, I would not have known about Zukka. Their help is deeply and sincerely appreciated. u/Verscreubulator Promised to help me with Nightscout is also appreciated. Also thanks to u/GooGurka for providing info on Nightscout.
