Are random Malaysians able to buy news?

Just now I watched a documentary about how Taiwan are able to buy news, like one day you want media to say you are spiderman, then just few thousand bucks, whole Taiwan medias will cover your spidey ability.

Is it possible in Malaysia? Not those random unknown news site, official media like Utusan, The Stars, NST, Sin Chew, China Press, etc... Or maybe downgrade abit, says or Weirdkaya. Are we as ordinary M40 are able to buy news for merely thousand bucks?
