Occupational health or leave of absence?

England

I am a first year student nurse and long story short I have been struggling with my mental health since I’ve got to uni. I reached out to my wellbeing service and they called occupational health and I’m now not able to go on placement. This week I have to decide if I speak to occupational health or take a leave of absence and restart my first year in September. I’ve not been able to get clear answers from my uni about what the consequences of each option is and how it will affect me in reality. I’ve been told that occupational health can and will remove me from the course if they think I am not fit to practice. This is what is worrying me. I’ve managed to get out of a complicated family situation and have found a home in my new city and don’t want to risk losing everything. They did also give me the option to drop out but I’m not thinking about that as a possibility. I just feel very stuck and am not sure where else to go for advice.
