[Synopsis translated from Baidu](https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E9%A3%8E%E4%B8%8E%E6%BD%AE/65481061):

After Hong Kong fell in December 1941, Macau became a crucial port for transshipment and exchange of strategic materials among various countries, as well as an international intelligence hub – thrust squarely into the global spotlight. The Portuguese administration in Macau claimed to be “neutral,” but in reality allowed the Japanese agent Ze Rongzuo and his intelligence apparatus to act with unchecked arrogance.

He Xian (played by Ren Jialun), a small-time banking-house owner, relocated his entire family to Macau, only to be unexpectedly drawn into a world of underworld dealings and political turmoil he had never anticipated. During this time, He Xian grew acquainted with the patriotic youth Qiao Yinwan (played by Lan Yingying). With the encouragement and support of his wife Guo Qiwen (played by Li Chun), he joined hands with the CCP operative stationed in Macau, Ke Lin (played by Tan Kai), the patriotic Chinese merchant Ma Manqi (played by Ma Qiyue), and other men and women of integrity.

United by deep patriotism and a powerful sense of responsibility, they rallied their compatriots and mobilized the strengths of major Chinese-Macanese organizations such as the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Kiang Wu Hospital, and [Tung Sin Tong](https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%BE%B3%E9%96%80%E5%90%8C%E5%96%84%E5%A0%82). Together, they fought back with all their might, engaging enemy forces in a series of covert financial and trade battles marked by strategy and subterfuge.

>!In those perilous times, they came to realize that only the Chinese Communist Party could save China and bring renewed hope to the Chinese nation. The patriotic Chinese community in Macau and the Communist Party, of one mind and purpose, confronted the Japanese invaders across multiple fronts – financial warfare, intelligence warfare, and material supply warfare – achieving one significant victory after another.!<

>!The anti-Japanese resistance movement in Macau not only helped the people of Macau endure the city’s most difficult “Wind and Tide” years, but also raised substantial wartime materials and funds, making an important contribution to supporting China’s overall [War of Resistance](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Sino-Japanese_War) and the global struggle against fascism.!<
