If veterans receive a DD-214, what do service members who die on active duty receive?

I've been doing Base Honor Guard for the past few months and have seen my fair share of DD-214s. Every time I've seen one it's always for vets who received an honorable or retired. Of the three active duty's we've taken care of, I haven't seen the official documentation for them and there service. So what do active duty receive if they die while on duty? Since they didn't finish their contract, they wouldn't receive a DD-214, would they? Or would their 214 just annotate the service member passed while serving?
