Help with handling

Hey so I have had my gecko now for 1 month and she is 1 years old ish. She was handled before me but I get nervous handling as I don’t want to get bit. I have tired here and there but she just looks at it and doesn’t even approach my hand. I put my hand close to her today and she licked her (lips?) then kinda pounced toward my hand but didn’t bite. Any help is needed.
