I recently discovered “Jun Ginger” in TCM—way warmer and gentler than regular dried ginger
Just wanted to share something I’ve been trying lately. I've used regular dried ginger for years in teas and soups, but recently I came across Jun Ginger (筠姜) — and the difference surprised me more than I expected.
It feels noticeably warmer but not harsh or drying. With normal dried ginger, I sometimes felt too much heat or throat dryness, but Jun Ginger gives this steady, comforting warmth that lasts longer. It seems to help with that cold-stomach bloating feeling and the “AC cold” I get from sitting in front of a computer all day.
From what I’ve learned, Jun Ginger is used in TCM to warm the middle burner, support digestion, improve circulation, and balance formulas that use stronger herbs. I can see why — it feels more stable and nourishing, not just spicy heat.
If anyone else here deals with cold hands/feet, menstrual cold, or general internal cold, you might find this interesting too.
Has anyone else tried different types of ginger in TCM? I’d love to hear what you noticed. https://youtube.com/shorts/9T4Yo32iXHo?feature=share
