Naval changes? (No Compromise No Surrender patch)

Question

Hi, coming back to the game after a year or so. Heard there were naval changes with the recent DLC/update. Reading the No Compromise No Surrender patch notes, I see naval dominance was changed, naval supply was introduced with home bases, and naval range and number of sea zones is more strict. But I don't see any changes to how navies actually fight once they get into a battle. Has anything changed there?

I ask because I've heard there were more changes to how naval battles actually work and thus the meta changed, but I'm not seeing any. (it was something about medium naval bombers being better than having a navy)

Side note, I'm still trying to learn how to navy. This is my current understanding of what you need for navy go brrr:

  1. Subs to sink convoys

  2. Torps to sink capital ships (Either subs or torp cruisers)

  3. Heavy cruisers or such with loads of light attack to delete screens

  4. Carriers with 50/50 fighters/naval bombers

  5. Light cruisers with float planes for spotting

  6. Destroyers with depth charges for convoy escort

  7. Random bullshit screens go to protect your capital ships

Is that still good? For carriers, is it better to have 100% planes with both guns and torpedoes?
