For anyone who decides to read, don’t give up.
Former daily smoker here, started when I was 16. I’m now 32, smoked off and on until last year and I quit for good. I used to do everything high, as it made everything way more enjoyable. Cooking, eating, video games, hiking, sex, grocery shopping, you get it. Hell I even drove over a huge curb in a car that I modified as a hobby because I couldn’t even drive without being high, which is extremely dangerous besides the fact of being stupid. I was so desperate after getting fired during Covid, I used credit cards to withdraw cash to buy weed at dispensaries and racked up thousands of debt within weeks. After spending 65% of my adult life high, I’m here to tell you sober is better. It’s so much better functioning daily without brain fog, and having a memory that actually remembers things. I won’t lie and say I don’t think about weed daily, because it’s always there in the back of my mind. But I have actually taught myself that I’m better off as a person without it, and that’s when you really overcome the urge. You can’t convince, or lie, you have to truly re-wire your brain into saying “weed isn’t for me” and you will get through it. I didn’t smoke for 6 months before , took (1) hit of a friends blunt and it was like a light switch went off and I was back at the dispensary the next day. That’s when I admitted subconsciously to the lack of self control and made the decision to never smoke/Injest THC again. The process is hard, it fucking sucks some days even years later, but you are better off.
Since I’ve been clean I’ve gotten a promotion, about to buy a house with my partner, and really see life and myself for what it truly is, and not what the weed enhances it to be..You can enjoy life the same off of weed as you did while using it, you just have to remember it starts with you. Hopefully these words of encouragement help someone
