Strange and long dream, what is going on?
To preface this, I am a teenager and everything with my family and life in general is fine.
The dream started in the front hall of my house. I was sitting at the bench there next to my father, when I turned to him and asked “who was the first person you knew who you remember dying?” He said that it was his grandfather a long time ago, when he was young. Soon, the doctor arrived. He was in his scrubs, and said that my mother was still very ill and maybe even dying. He said that us staying around and worrying wouldn’t help her health, and that we should go somewhere to rest and take the shock. We decided to go to Cape Cod, to a place a lot like Wellfleet. Soon my father and I along with my sister arrived in the little town, and found that it was mostly forest. The forests were somewhat dark and mysterious, and sat on the ocean. There were all kinds of hollows and lagoons and a big fish market that I walked around for a little while. Eventually we arrived at our house there, that maybe we were renting. We drove up the bumpy dirt road, and there was this little wooden cottage. If you’ve been to the cape, you know what I’m talking about. We went inside, and it wasn’t much. Three bedrooms, two for me and my sister and one for my dad, a kitchen, a little living room, and a bathroom. I really like simple, old things though so it was fine with me. I settled in a bedroom off of the living room and put my stuff down. My family went about their business as I looked around the town a little bit. It was perfectly unimpressive. When I got back to the house, things got strange. Next to my room, where there had simply been a wall, was now a dark and creepy hallway. I walked down it, and it was quite long. At the end, sitting before me, was a huge ballroom. This was quite unsettling, and mystical. It was silent, and a huge space. There were big long dining tables, and the room was full of gold. On the wall were portraits of people long gone, and there was also a big wooden clock. However, the clock’s hands weren’t moving. I walked in, and sat down at a table. There before me was another clock, a document from the 1300s, and a bunch of silver ware. You know, forks and spoons and knives. I picked up the silverware, but it kept morphing. It would get longer and shorter and bend around. Eventually I got really freaked out. This was the first of many strange occurrences. The house kept expanding, and got more and more Victorian. From the outside though it still looked like a tiny cottage. One strange note, whenever I looked out the windows I would see vast fields. There, chatting, would be my extended family. When I went outside, however, it was just the dark Cape Cod forests. Anyway, eventually two of my cousins came to visit. Siblings. I was irritated because they got to sleep in these grand Victorian bedrooms while I was stuck in the normal old room I had chosen in the beginning. I went into one of their rooms and complained, and she told me that we could switch. I informed her that I wouldn’t do that, and simply liked to complain. That is very true. Now I’ll get to the creepiest part of the dream. In a distant corner of the cottage, I found a new hallway. It was especially dark and creepy, and only seemed to get darker as it wound and got longer and longer. I walked quite a while before I got to a small room at the end. There stood a woman who I had never seen. She didn’t seem evil at all, only in need of help. She was dishevelled and thin, with messy black hair. She had bags under her eyes, and seemed slightly insane. All she had with her was a computer. She explained that she had a song in her head, and couldn’t get it out. She had just a melody, and it ruined her. She was nuts. She said that she had found this pattern with this same song in other people, that it had driven them crazy too. She showed me that she had made a Wikipedia page for it. She said that it kept getting deleted, but she didn’t care. She knew she was right. Then she said that she would hum the melody for me. Before she could, I ran away as fast as possible. I made it back to the cabin and slammed the door to the hallway shut. My next adventure was also quite strange. In one room, I found a bucket of water full of seaweed. A terrifying voice rang throughout the room, and said that the seaweed had been taken from the ocean by my family, my late grandmother, long ago. My family was cursed, and I had to return it. I took the bucket and walked down to the lagoon. Strangely, the small lagoon of yesterday turned into many vast little bays and hollows with little caves. I knew better than to enter the caves, I didn’t want things to get even trippier, and just kept walking. What should have been a five minute walk took what seemed like forever. I eventually got to a place to put back the seaweed. It was shallow. I threw a stone in, saw it make a few ripples, and sank to the bottom. I could see right where it landed. Now I threw the seaweed in. It shot right down. However, it was now so long that it went all the way to the surface. I looked down, and what used to be shallow water was now deeper than I could see. Eventually, far down, the green stalk of weed just disappeared into the brown mist. The terrifying voice rang out and praised me. I went back to the cabin. There, at the start of a new hallway, was my mother. I began to run to her, but when I got to her she moved out of the way. I kept running down the bright hallway. At the start there wasn’t much. Eventually I could see some of my friends from when I was little were there, in their younger forms. However, I had to run past them. My feet wouldn’t stop. I moved forward in time, the hands of the clocks on the walls going so fast I couldn’t see them. Also on the walls were the bulletin boards from school walls. As I went on the name of the grade on the boards would get higher and higher. First grade, second grade, third grade, etc. The people I saw corresponded. I just had to keep running. Soon, I heard it. The melody. It was ringing throughout the halls, hummed by the woman’s voice somewhere in some divine space. Eventually I took a turn and I could see the hallway slowly being created. It was expanding into a black void. Now I was near the present, with my current friends in their near current forms. I kept running, and flew into the black void. I woke up.
